Notes

John C. Maxwell, Jr. was born October 26, 1778, Rockbridge County, Virginia. John was probably baptized in Falling Spring Presbyterian Meeting House by James McConnell. He remained in this area from 1778-1787 and then is alledged to have gone to Ohio Territory (presumably taking his records with him). The records of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church were burned in an automobile fire in 1913.

John C. Maxwell married Mary Ann Canes (Cairnes) who was called "Polly", November 11, 1799, Garrand County, Kentucky. She was given in marriage by her father, Alexander Carnes of Garrand, Kentucky, who gave his consent.

Alexander Carnes sold 50 Acres to John Maxwell, Jr. December10, 1800 on Paint Lick Creek for 50 pounds.

John Maxwell, Jr. is listed as a taxpayer on land in 1800.

John Maxwell appears with the Initial "C" in his name first in the 1810 Federal Census in Wayne County, Kentucky.
